If you are having difficulty viewing PDFs within Ezekia when using Google Chrome, such as getting a message stating: 'This content is blocked. Contact the site owner to fix the issue', it may likely be due to your local browser’s settings rather than Ezekia. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue and get PDFs opening smoothly again. Please re-test after each step to see if it’s worked.
1. Check Chrome’s PDF Settings
Chrome may be set to download PDFs instead of displaying them.
To check and fix this:
- Open Google Chrome.
- In the website address bar, copy and paste:
chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments - Under Default behaviour, you will see two options:
- Download PDFs (downloads the file to your computer)
- Open PDFs in Chrome (displays the PDF inside Chrome)
- Ensure "Open PDFs in Chrome" is selected:
2. Try Opening a Local PDF in Chrome
Test if Chrome can display PDFs independently:
- Save a PDF file to your computer.
- Open Chrome.
- Drag the PDF into an open Chrome window.
or - Right-click the file → Open with → Google Chrome.
If the PDF opens normally, Chrome is set up correctly.
3. Disable Chrome Extensions
Extensions like ad blockers, antivirus tools, or privacy protectors may interfere.
Steps:
- In the website address bar, copy and paste:
chrome://extensions/ - Disable extensions temporarily (especially security/privacy ones).
- Refresh Ezekia and try again.
4. Clear Chrome’s Cache
Old cache data can cause issues.
- Go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data.
(Or in the website address bar, copy and paste: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData) - Tick only "Cached images and files".
- Click Clear data.
- Refresh and retry.
5. Update Chrome
Ensure Chrome is fully updated:
- In the website address bar, copy and paste:
chrome://settings/help - Chrome will automatically update if needed.
- Restart after updating.
6. Try Another Browser
If the issue persists after these steps:
- Try opening Ezekia in Microsoft Edge (or another browser).
- If PDFs display correctly in Edge, it confirms the issue is isolated to Chrome.
This helps rule out broader system issues and allows you to continue working while Chrome is further investigated.
Still Having Trouble?
If none of the above resolves the issue:
- You may wish to reset Chrome to default settings or reinstall it.
- Please also feel free to contact Ezekia Support - we are here to help!
