The Dictation button is currently only available in Chrome, but this guide shows you how to use this feature in Microsoft Edge also.

Using Dictation in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10/11:

  • Open Ezekia and navigate to the text field where you wish to enter text by voice.
  • Press Windows key + H to activate dictation.
  • A dictation toolbar will appear, and you can start speaking. Speak clearly and pause briefly between sentences.
  • To stop dictating, click the microphone icon on the dictation toolbar or press Windows key + H again.

Windows Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If the dictation does not start, check if your microphone is selected as the default input device and that it's working correctly. Plug in or connect your microphone. Navigate to Settings > System > Sound and select your microphone under the Input section.
  • Ensure that online speech recognition is enabled in your settings. For Windows 10: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Speech. Turn on speech services and typing suggestions. For Windows 11: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Speech. Ensure that the ‘Online speech recognition’ is enabled.

Using Dictation in Microsoft Edge on macOS:

  • Open Ezekia and navigate to the text field where you wish to enter text by voice.
  • Double-tap the Fn (Function) key or the Command key to start dictation. On some newer Macs there may be a dictated microphone key (on the F5 key), or alternatively you can set up a custom shortcut for dictation.
  • Start speaking clearly. When finished, tap your dictation key again or click Done on the dictation prompt.

macOS Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Enable Dictation on Your Mac. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Keyboard. Click the Dictation tab. Turn Dictation on and select 'Enhanced Dictation' if you want to use dictation offline.
  • Make sure your macOS and Microsoft Edge are updated to the latest versions to avoid compatibility issues.
  • If the microphone does not pick up your voice, ensure it is properly connected and selected as the input source in Sound settings. Re-connect your microphone. Go to System Preferences > Sound. Select the Input tab and choose your microphone.
