Browser Verification

Browser verification is required for all users signing in with email and password. It is NOT required when signing in with Single Sign-On (SSO) or if you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled.

Verification helps protect your search firm’s data from password misuse by requiring each browser you use to be verified by email.

This will appear in the mail inbox of the email address you used to sign in. The email will contain a six-digit code that must be entered on the screen. If the code you have entered is correct, you will be redirected to your dashboard and the browser will be successfully verified.

The verification cookie will last 180 days on that browser.

The Browser Verification Process

1. Sign in using your email and password.

2. If the browser is not verified, you will arrive at this screen asking you to retrieve the six-digit code in your email.

3. Open the email and get the six-digit code.

4. Enter the six-digit code below and press confirm.

5. If the code is correct, the browser will be verified and then you will be redirected to your dashboard.

Possible Issues

Every time I try a code, it says the code invalid.

The codes do expire after a few hours, so don't delay in using a code you are sent.

However, the most likely issue is that each time a new security pin is issued, it invalidates all the ones that were previously issued.  This means that if you repeatedly request a new pin, each time you do so a new email will be generated and all the pin codes generated before that will be invalidated, and it is difficult to identify which email/code is the valid one.

To avoid this problem, try accessing the system once, then wait for that notification to come through before trying it.

Why am I always being asked to verify?

  • The most common reason is that the current browser has never been verified before.
  • Each browser you use requires separate verification. For example, if today you are verified and use Google Chrome and tomorrow you then use Microsoft Edge; you will need to be verified using Microsoft Edge too.
  • If you have switched computer
  • Verification uses browser cookies, which must be enabled in your browser’s settings
  • Verification cookies will be reset if using private browser tabs.
  • Some browsers offer an option to clear all cookies automatically, each time the browser application is closed. Check your settings to ensure this is disabled.
  • Certain security or anti-virus software offers the periodic removal of cookies as a security feature.

I am receiving error messages when I try to verify.

  • The code you have entered is either incorrect or invalid.
  • You have entered the wrong code from the email. Please check and try again.
  • If you have requested a few emails, ensure you are using the latest code as the previous codes would be invalid
  • The code is valid for one hour before it becomes invalid. If this is the case, click ‘Resend Email’.

A message popped up saying 'something went wrong'.

  • The issue has been picked up by our developers. If this happens refresh the browser and try again. If not, please contact support.

I have not received my verification email.

  • Make sure you have access to the mailbox of the email address you signed in with
  • Check your spam or junk mail folder
  • In the unlikely event of you not receiving this, click ‘Resend Email’.
