Manual ranking in projects allows users to prioritise candidates based on their own criteria. This feature ensures flexibility in ordering candidates but has specific behaviours when used alongside pipeline grouping and the Client Portal.
How Does Manual Ranking Work?
- Candidates are ranked in a sequential order, and whenever you increase or decrease a candidate’s rank, someone else will automatically move into the vacated spot.
- This ensures that rankings always follow a logical sequence without gaps.
What Happens When Grouping by Pipeline Tags?
- When candidates are grouped by pipeline tags, the ranking sequence spans across all pipeline tags rather than resetting within each group. For example, you might see ranks 1, 2, and 3 in one pipeline tag, and then 3, 4, and 6 in the next status.
- The manual ranking system is primarily designed to be used as a standalone feature. If you wish to use it alongside pipeline grouping, you will need to manually adjust rankings within each group to maintain a continuous order.
Does Manual Ranking Carry Over to the Client Portal?
- No, manual ranking does not carry over to the Client Portal.
- Firms requested the ability to set rankings differently within the portal, so rankings must be manually adjusted again in the Client Portal if needed.
- If you do not use internal ranking, you can set the ranking directly in the Client Portal without making any changes to the ranking on the project.
- If you prefer not to display manual rankings in the client portal, they can be easily hidden by adjusting the client portal settings, allowing for flexibility in how rankings are presented to clients:
Best Practices for Using Manual Ranking
- Use Manual Ranking standalone when possible – This ensures rankings are applied in a predictable, sequential manner.
- If using pipeline tags, adjust rankings manually – To avoid inconsistencies, update ranking numbers to follow within each pipeline group.
- Set rankings separately in the Client Portal – Since internal rankings set on the project do not carry over, ensure you manually adjust rankings in the Client Portal if needed (or only in the Client Portal if not needed internally).
