Ezekia is a web-based application, and so its speed is highly dependent on your network connection. You can use built-in tools on your Windows or macOS computer to test and troubleshoot your network connection. This guide will walk you through checking your latency, speed, bandwidth, ping, and trace route. Follow these steps to identify any issues causing the slowdown. If you are unsure how to perform any of these steps, please contact your IT support team.
For Windows 10/11 Users
1. Checking Your Network Speed and Bandwidth
- Open Task Manager:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Click on the Performance tab.
- Select Ethernet (if you're using a wired connection) or Wi-Fi (if you're using a wireless connection).
Here, you can see your network usage in real-time. Look for the Send and Receive rates to understand your current bandwidth usage.
2. Checking Ping and Latency
- Open Command Prompt:
- Press Win + R, type cmd, and hit Enter.
- Run Ping Command:
- In the Command Prompt window, type ping google.com and press Enter.
- You'll see a series of replies from Google's server, including the time it took for each reply (in milliseconds). This is your ping time or latency. Above 100ms may cause issues.
- Next, type ping ezekia.com and press Enter.
- Similarly, you'll see a series of similar replies from Ezekia's server. Note the average ping time. Again, above 100ms may cause issues, if you see this please perform point 4. “Running a Trace Route to Ezekia.com”.
3. Running a Network Speed Test
- Using Web Browser:
- Open your web browser and go to a speed test website like speedtest.net.
- Click the Go button to start the test.
- The test will measure your download and upload speeds, giving you a clear picture of your internet speed. Below 10mbps may cause issues.
4. Running a Trace Route to Ezekia.com
- Open Command Prompt:
- Press Win + R, type cmd, and hit Enter.
- Run Tracert Command:
- In the Command Prompt window, type tracert ezekia.com and press Enter.
- The trace route test will display a list of hops (routers) your traffic passes through to reach ezekia.com. Each hop shows the response time in milliseconds (ms). Any results above 100ms or if any hop shows “Request timed out”, may cause issues.
For macOS Users
1. Checking Your Network Speed and Bandwidth
- Open Activity Monitor:
- Press Command + Space to open Spotlight Search, type Activity Monitor, and press Enter.
- Click on the Network tab.
Here, you can see your network activity. The Data sent/sec and Data received/sec columns show your current bandwidth usage.
2. Checking Ping and Latency
- Open Terminal:
- Press Command + Space, type Terminal, and press Enter.
- Run Ping Command:
- In the Terminal window, type ping google.com and press Enter.
- Open Terminal:
- Press Command + Space, type Terminal, and press Enter.
- Run Traceroute Command:
- In the Terminal window, type traceroute ezekia.com and press Enter.
- The trace route test will display a list of hops (routers) your traffic passes through to reach ezekia.com. Each hop shows the response time in milliseconds (ms). Any results above 100ms or if any hop shows “Request timed out”, may cause issues.
What to Report to Ezekia Support or ISP
When experiencing slowness with the Ezekia.com application, collecting and providing detailed information about your network connection can help Ezekia Support or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) diagnose and resolve the issue more efficiently. Here’s what you should capture:
- Speed Test Results: Include a screenshot or note the results of your speed test (download speed, upload speed, and ping) from a site like speedtest.net.
- Ping Test Results: Include the results of your ping test to google.com and ezekia.com. Note the average ping time and any packet loss (if shown).
- Trace Route Results to Ezekia.com: Include the full output of your trace route to ezekia.com. This shows each hop and the response times.
- Network Usage Data: Include screenshots from Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (macOS) showing your network usage.
- Any Error Messages or slow pages: Note any specific error messages or specific slow pages you see within Ezekia.
- Time and Frequency of the Issue: Note the times and dates when you experience slowness. Indicate whether the issue occurs consistently or intermittently.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Restart Your Router:
- Unplug your router, wait for about 30 seconds, and plug it back in. This can resolve many connection issues.
- Check for Interference:
- Ensure there are no physical obstructions or electronic devices between your computer and the router if you're using Wi-Fi.
- Update Network Drivers (Windows):
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X and select Device Manager).
- Expand Network adapters, right-click your network adapter, and select Update driver.
- Reset Network Settings:
- For Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
- For macOS: Go to System Preferences > Network, select your network connection, and click the - button to remove it, then re-add it using the + button.
- Flush DNS:
- Windows: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type ipconfig /flushdns, then press Enter.
- macOS: Open Terminal and type sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder, then press Enter.
- Clear Browser Cache:
- Clear the cache and cookies in your web browser. This can often resolve connectivity issues with web applications.
- Switch Network Connections:
- If you're using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired Ethernet connection to see if the performance improves.
- Conversely, if you're on a wired connection, try switching to Wi-Fi to see if there's any difference.
- Disable VPN:
- If you're connected to a VPN, try disconnecting from it to see if the network performance improves.
- Contact Your ISP:
- If you’re working from home and continue to experience issues, contact your ISP to check if there are any known issues or if they can provide additional support.
- Contact Your IT Department:
- If you’re in an office environment, contact your IT department to report the issue and get further assistance.
By following these steps, you can effectively test and troubleshoot your network connection, helping to identify and resolve any issues causing slowness within Ezekia.
