The primary record owner is the person responsible for the record (by default, this will be the creator of the record). You can change the owner on the 'Owner' tab on the left of the page in Project, Company and Person records. You can have multiple owners tagged with different values, but the primary owner is the master owner.

Bulk Update of Ownership
On the person page, select all the people you would like to move to a new, single owner (1). On the row of new buttons at the top, click Ownership (2) and enter the new owner name.

Select the new owner on the next panel. You can opt to make them the new primary owner and add a tag. If you change the primary owner like this, the former primary owner will remain as an owner, but will no longer be primary.

Ownership terminology Change (November 2025)
This section concerns terminology changes implemented in November 2025, particularly those affecting the Query Builder.
Other than the change in terminology, all your existing queries and dashboards will continue to work as before. The new feature for tagging owners is entirely optional, and no tags were added during that release. It’s only when you wish to create new queries, or make changes to existing queries, that you need to use the new terminology.
Here’s a breakdown of the changes in more detail:
Update to Ownership Terminology — What You Need to Know
We’ve updated some of the terminology used for Ownership in Ezekia, but nothing about the underlying functionality has changed. All your existing reports, queries, and workflows will continue to work exactly as before.
What’s Changed:
- Previous “Owner” → now shown as Primary Owner
- Previous “Associate” → now shown as Secondary Owner
These changes happened automatically. No tags are added during the update, but you can add your own tags if useful.
What stayed the same:
- All existing queries and reports continue to work.
- Anything that referenced the old fields will still function behind the scenes.
When you create or edit queries:
- Going forward, when you build a new query or edit an existing one, please use the new field names and keys.
- Old Owner/Associate fields will continue to work only for previously built queries; new queries must use the updated versions.
- Associates, office groups & regions now all fall under the Secondary Owner option within the query builder.
New flexibility for owners:
- You can now assign any number of owners to an item.
- You can also add tags (defined by your admins) to help you easily filter and organise owners in Query Builder.
