What is quick search?

Quick search allows you to search for people, companies and assignments by their key properties. To use quick search, click on the magnifying glass located at the top-right of the page. This is accessible on any page in the application.

Quick search syntax

Quick search adopts a simple multi-word partial matching algorithm. To start a search, start typing, and partial matches will be displayed. Continue typing to further filter the results on a longer string. Start a new partial word to filter across multiple fields.

Quick search results

Quick search returns up to three sections of results for matched people, companies, and projects (both assignments and opportunities). Each section shows up to five results, with a button to "Show more" at the bottom of each section list. The result list stays open until you explicitly close it, so you can more easily click and browse through the results without having to run a new query.

Where the results title includes your query string, it is highlighted in the result. There are several icons potentially displayed to the right of each result, which give you more information on the type of match:

  • Person icon: the owner of the record. Hovering over this icon will show their name, and clicking on the icon will reveal contact information of the owner.
  • Note icon: the match was found in a custom field (additional information) section. Queries are made against the textual representation of a custom field.
  • Restricted icon: an assignment or project that has restricted access, where you are one of the permitted users allowed to view the record.
  • Link icon: a person record (private profile) that also links to a self-managed profile on Not Actively Looking.

There is a refresh button to the right of the search input bar to refresh the results, if needed.

What values are searched?

The following properties on a record and related data is searched for each record type as follows:

  • People: full name, company name, job title, email addresses, phone numbers, people tags, candidate pipeline tags, custom fields, owner.
  • Companies: company name, divisions, industry sectors, specialities, phone number, email address, status, custom fields, owner.
  • Projects: project title, project ID, client company name, industry sectors, status, custom fields, owner.
